Biography

Andrey Atuchin was born on September, 10th, 1980 in the Siberian town - Prokopevsk. Since the early childhood he has become interested in dinosaurs and paleontology. Later he has started to draw dinosaurs, with getting knowledge from children's books about dinosaurs which were a very rarity. First such book was the encyclopedia of dinosaurs by Dougal Dixon. Since then interesting in dinosaurs has turned to a hobby, and illustration has became more qualitatively and more accuracy. Without having art education (except for two years at children's art school) Andrey has started to train in this art as a self-taught person . In 2000 Andrey has entered on biological faculty of the Kemerovo state university. But there was no possibility to study dinosaurs in this university because of absence of a scientific material. Andrey continued to be engaged in drawing of dinosaurs as a hobby. His scientific work is entomology, studying leaf-beetles. In 2002 Andrey Atuchin has won a Honourable Mention of the International Contest of Dinosaur Illustration organized by the GEAL - Museum of Lourinha, Portugal. However creativity has died away the next two years because of unimportance and needless this work in Russia, absence of the scientific literature, and living/work conditions. Fortunately in 2005 he has received a request from Annes Publishing ltd. (Great Britain) to contribute illustrations to books of Dougal Dixon. Now Andrey performs illustrative work for the Natural History Museum of London. Now the huge electronic library and biological background helps him to raise professionalism and to grind accuracy in illustration. link
